Terence (Terry) Michael McMahon
Phoenix, AZ – Terence (Terry) Michael McMahon, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away after a short illness on December 17, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Terence was born in Rochester, New York on May 8, 1939 to Lee and Margaret McMahon. He grew up in Bald Hill, New York with one brother, John. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from St John Fisher and later earned an MBA from the University of Rochester. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1983.
He was the beloved husband of Carolyn McMahon; beloved father of Thomas (William Kavan) McMahon of Phoenix, Arizona, Anne (Raymond) Jordt of Fishers, Indiana and Mathew (Erin) McMahon of Mill Valley, California; devoted grandfather of Nathan, Ryan, Emily and Ava; He is also survived by his brother John (Jeanette) McMahon of Kodak, Tennessee.
Terence retired from AZ State after 10 years of service. He then became very active in the community, volunteering for many organizations. He was elected to and served on the Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board of Directors. He has also served on the Literacy Volunteer Board of Directors and tutored math to adults preparing for a GED. He was most proud of being a CASA attorney for a foster child. A full life in the service of others.
Due to the resurgence of COVID, the funeral will be held privately at St. Mary’s Basilica, Phoenix, AZ. Burial will take place in the spring at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
