Susan Acheson Running Obituary – The Arizona Republic

81 year old Susan Acheson Running was born on October 10, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Vashta and Alfred Johnsen. She moved to Phoenix at age 9 with her mother and father Ed Acheson. Susan graduated from West High and attended the University of Arizona and Arizona State University. There she made many lifelong friends through Delta Gamma. Her life was all about fun, family and friends, both human and furry. She turned her love of animals into a 35-year career of breeding and showing Shih Tzus. Often she could be found outdoors fishing, hunting, gardening, or mountain biking. From Saturday to Monday, Susan could be found watching every college and NFL football game on TV. She was a proud Junior League member, NRA instructor, and member of Alcoholics Anonymous for nearly 50 years. Susan was predeceased by her parents, her older brother Fred Acheson and her twin brother Stephen Acheson. She is survived by her four children, Scott Running, Victoria (Michael) High, Christina (Chris) Heath, Clifford (Lynn) Running, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She will be greeted at the pearly gates by hordes of animals that she all considered her babies. Private services will be arranged for the family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal shelter of your choice.
