Sharon Pearl Manning
Sun Lakes – Sharon Pearl Manning, born October 2, 1950, died November 25, 2021 in Sun Lakes, AZ.
She was from Arizona, born in Chandler and raised on her parents’ farm. In fact, she has lived within 10 miles of this farm for most of her life. As a young girl, Sharon followed in her father’s boots and was a champion in all aspects of the arena. She was a rodeo queen and an FFA darling. She enjoyed watching and participating in the rope team with her children and passing on the love of all things rodeo to another generation.
A graduate of the Chandler High School class in 1968, Sharon was an exceptional student. She was known for her beautiful calligraphy, as well as her strong leadership and organizational skills.
After graduating, Sharon worked at the Diamond Factory, before moving on to a 35-year career with Bashas. During her time at Bashas, she achieved many accomplishments, but the one she was most proud of was the Bashas’ benefit golf tournament. Not only was Sharon instrumental in the development and success of the golf tournament, she was its heart and soul. This event spanned over two decades and raised over $2.6 million for a variety of local charities, as well as countless treasured memories for everyone involved.
Sharon loved her family and extended family so much and was known to many as “Mamma Pearl”. On vacation, you’d find her in the kitchen preparing meals for family gatherings, which always included a big pot of beans, tortillas, chips, and salsa. She had a big heart and was a very kind and generous person. If you were the lucky recipient of one of Sharon’s famous nicknames, you know you had a special place in her heart. Sharon will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne Manning, her children Delbert Brooks, Brandy Brooks (Bryon Ballou), Dave Manning (Kristie), Liz Manning and Sheri Manning, her mother Lorene Little, her siblings Ellen (Robert) Wood, Gary (Kathie) Little, and Dudley (Renee) Little, his sister-in-law Gloria Manning, as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
