Rickey Medina Obituary – The Arizona Republic

Rickey passed away peacefully on July 20, 2022, in his sleep at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his children and loved ones. Rickey enjoyed life and fought hard every day until the night he breathed his last. Rickey still had a big smile that also matched the size of his heart. Born June 2, 1959 to Raymond Medina and Rosita Barreras in Phoenix, AZ. He had 6 children, Gina, Richard, Freddie, Bucky, Lisa and Brianna. He spent his life by their side, sharing many happy moments and experiencing the growth of his 9 grandchildren. Rickey was a hard worker and was knowledgeable in his field. He owned a Mason business that laid blocks with his family and friends for years in which his work can be seen throughout the valley. Rickey celebrated life to the fullest and never wasted a moment. He enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to old songs and traveling to the Southside. Rickey has built many lowriders, some of which have won countless awards across the state at auto shows. Hitting switches and wearing his favorite hats are some of our dad’s favorite things. He was loved by many; He is an unforgettable soul and he will live on through his children and these last lowriders who will continue to ride in his memory. He was one of the strongest people we know and in spirit we know he is going down to heaven with those who have gone before him. Rest easy at Paradise Dad, you will never be forgotten. We love you forever. Services will be held at the AL Moore-Grimshaw Chapel at 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Sat., 7/30 at 1 p.m.
