David Valdez Lopez (“Luchie”) Obituary – The Arizona Republic

David Valdez Lopez (“Luchie”), 79, of Guadalupe passed away peacefully on July 28, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He worked in the trucking industry where he delivered different crops throughout Arizona and surrounding states. As a teenager, he met Nellie Cota. They would get married and have four daughters. He retired from the trucking industry in 1999 and spent his free time with his family and grandchildren. David was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He was outgoing with those who passed by his house and nicknamed everyone he befriended. David has been involved in his community by volunteering with the Guadalupe Volunteer Fire Department and as a baseball coach for teens. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his presence will never be forgotten by those who knew him. David was predeceased by his parents Marcial and Rita Lopez, his beloved wife Nellie Lopez, and by his siblings Gilbert Machado, Rudy Machado, Pat Villa, Ruben Vizerra, Socorro Vargas. He is survived by Rita Trevino (Jacinto), Jeannette Uriarte (Charlie), Lorraine Rodriguez (Johnny) and Nellie Ann Lopez. He cherished the company of his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with another great-grandson to come. A visitation will be held at the Legacy Funeral Home in Chandler on August 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. A mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on August 9 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at his residence.
