Marvin Allan Sondag Obituary – The Arizona Republic

Marvin Allan Sondag was born January 6, 1950 and died July 28, 2022 in Mirabella at ASU Memory Care in Tempe. He was born in Carrington, North Dakota. He graduated from Sykeston High School in 1968, the University of North Dakota in 1972, and Arizona State University School of Law in 1975. Marvin began his legal career with the Arizona Legislative Council before to join the City of Phoenix Legal Department. working more than 30 years. Marvin was an avid jogger, cyclist and hiker. He has completed numerous marathons, duathlons and triathlons and has run the Grand Canyon South Rim to North Rim to South Rim in less than a day more than once. He was also a dedicated volunteer steward at South Mountain Park and Preserve in Phoenix. Marvin was married for over 40 years to Donna Schober. He is survived by his wife and sisters Norma (Roger Kulas), Beverly, Gladys (Jeff Wells), Karen (Jay Strachota) and brother Don (Terrie Sondag). He is also survived by his stepmother Virginia Schober and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Sylvester and Viola Sondag and his stepfather Kenneth Schober. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Hospice of the Valley and Mirabella from ASU Health Services staff. Memorials are preferred and can be directed to the Phoenix Parks Foundation, 2700 N. 15th Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85007 for South Mountain Park and Preserve. Funeral Mass Friday, August 5 at 10 a.m. at ASU’s Newman Catholic Center in Tempe. Arrangements through the Catholic Cemetery and Queen of Heaven Funeral Home.
