Marilyn Ann La Russo Obituary

Marilyn Ann La Russo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and cousin, 94, died peacefully in Phoenix, AZ surrounded by her family on October 3, 2022. She leaves in mourning her children: Kathleen Grainger, Christine Flaherty (Eugène Perri), Patrick Flaherty, Jennifer Harvey and Ellis Harvey (Sarah); grandchildren: Rebecca Orife, Felix E. Ward IV, Paula White, Kenneth Flaherty, Taylor Guss, Alexander Grainger and Benjamin Grainger; 5 great-grandchildren; His half-sister, Patricia Firkins; and his 3 cousins, Richard, Nancy and John Heinrich. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Edward John Flaherty, Ira Ellis Harvey and Angelo Charles La Russo and her grandson, Brendon Guss Marilyn graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, OH. She received her degree in education from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and her master’s degree in library science from San Jose State University in California. She worked as an elementary school teacher and librarian. She also worked as a real estate agent. Marilyn loved dancing, music, traveling and crosswords. She was an excellent cook, kept a spotless house and was the undisputed queen of Scrabble. She has written and published several children’s books and a book of poetry. Above all, she loved her family and instilled strong values ​​in her children that served them well. She will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Family and friends are invited to attend the service Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Church, 6715 N. Mockingbird Lane, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253.
