Lizzie Oleary named assistant director of operations for Sun Devil WBB

TEMPE, Ariz. – Head coach of the Arizona State University women’s basketball team Natasha Adair today announced the appointment of Lizzie Olary as Deputy Director of Program Operations.

Oleary will transition from student-athlete to staff member after playing the past five seasons for Adair at Delaware.

“I am delighted to welcome Lizzie Olary to our Sun Devil Women’s Basketball family,” Adair said. “Lizzie will have a seamless transition in her role due to her work ethic as the leader and captain of the University of Delaware women’s basketball team.

“Lizzie understands the demands and rigors of the job through her experience as a top Division I women’s basketball player. Her passion and knowledge of the game will make her a tremendous asset while having a huge impact. on our women’s basketball program as a whole.”

Starting in 81 of 147 career games — the most games played by any player in school history — Oleary captained the Blue Hens for two years. In her final two seasons, the Willow Grove, Pennsylvania native played a major role in helping Delaware reach a 48-13 record, regular season (2021) and tournament (2022) championships. from the CAA, a WNIT Regional Championship (2021) and the program’s first appearance in the NCAA (2022) since 2013.

After securing a spot on the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2018, Oleary has earned several other accolades throughout her career: Team Sixth Woman of the Year Award (2018), Team Iron Woman Award (2021), NCSA All-American Athlete of the Year in Strength and Conditioning (2022).

Off the court, Oleary has served in several organizations, including the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Council (was elected to the SAAC Board of Directors) and was a member of Delaware’s committees for diversity and inclusion of student-athletes, HENMinded (mental health awareness) and Student-Athletes Against Social Injustice.

A four-time CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll winner who completed the WBCA’s “So You Want to Be a Coach” program earlier this year, Oleary earned her BS (Fashion Merchandising in 2021) and MS ( International Business in 2022) from Delaware.
