Jerry L. Haggard Obituary – The Arizona Republic

Jerry L. Haggard, 85, of Phoenix, AZ, died June 15, 2022 with his beloved wife by his side. Born in El Dorado, Kansas, Jerry grew up in the small town of Wellington. He married his high school sweetheart Mitzi and their love turned 67. Jerry graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in geology. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lee while attending American University Washington College of Law School of Law and earned a Juris Doctor in 1965. While in Washington D.C. he held various positions governmental. In 1970, Jerry and his family moved to Phoenix. He was a partner in several law firms in AZ. In 2004, he received the prestigious title of one of America’s top lawyers and earned it again for over ten years. He practiced law for 57 years in the United States, Arizona, District of Columbia and Maricopa County bars, and was a Fellow of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. Jerry loved the adventure and exploration that began growing up on his aunts’ wheat farm in Kansas. He would sneak in hunting and rock fishing at any time. His passion for skiing and sailing grew which he enjoyed sharing with others. Rest in peace Jerry, Dad, Gompies. We miss you very much, but know that you are up there on your sailboat with a smile on your face, a pipe in your hand, a cerveza nearby and “burying a rail”. Jerry is survived by his wife, Mitzi, his children Phil (Julie) and Deidre (Cliff), and his grandsons Kendall, Donovan and Bradley.
