Jean Pearson Thomas died on October 1, 2022. She was born to Edith and EP Pearson at Good Samaritan Hospital on March 16, 1927. Jean graduated from Emerson Elementary School, North Phoenix High School, Phoenix College and from Pomona College in Claremont, California, to complete his graduate studies at Arizona State University. She is survived by her children Eric and her husband, John Migliaro; Claire and his wife, Lori Kirgan; Eileen; and Paul and his wife, Denise. Also, his grandchildren Jennifer (Eric), JeanClaire (Tom), James (Christy) and Joe; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews Catherine, Elizabeth, Anne, Rebecca and Scott and their families; cousins Helen Teegarden, Stephen Pitti, Gina Friedman-Pitti and Catherine Pitti Esquivel and their families and Joseph Pitti. She was predeceased by her parents, son Scott, brother John Perry Pearson, sister-in-law Wanda Harrison Pearson, aunt Grace Elser and cousin Edith Elser Pitti. After graduating from college at a time when few jobs were open to women, she “fallen” into a teaching position and found her footing. She loved her “children”. After retirement, she volunteered with the Desert Mission Food Bank, New Day/UMOM Shelter for Homeless Families, PFLAG, Arizona State Hospital, Friends of the Library, and Duets. She was an enthusiastic walker/hiker, traveling with Road Scholar overseas and in the United States. In addition to his family, Jean’s friends have truly enriched his life. An ice cream party to celebrate his life will be held in early January at the Beatitudes campus.
