Dorothy Baker Obituary – The Arizona Republic

On the afternoon of August 16, 2022, Phoenix resident Dorothy Baker died at the age of 73. Dorothy, known as Dotti, was born to William and Dorothy in Philadelphia in 1949. As a young adult she moved to California where she met and married Christopher J Baker. They moved to Phoenix and Dotti became a full-time mom to two girls, Megan and Caryn. Dotti was active in everything she did. Whether it was APE, Girl Scouts, Bible study or book club, she always played a leadership role. She was dedicated in her faith and religious studies. Once her children grew up, she accepted an administrative position at Golden Gate Seminary, and thrived there for 15 years. Others could always count on her for a kind word and a warm smile. Dotti was a wonderful mother. She was widowed at 50, and she and her daughters became very close by traveling, seeing Broadway shows and spending a lot of time together. She was thrilled to be a grandmother and loved her three grandchildren very much. She has created holiday and birthday traditions that will last for generations. Dotti was predeceased by her husband, mother, father and brother. She is survived by her daughters, 5 brothers and sisters, 3 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held August 29 at 3 p.m. at Black Mountain Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Black Mountain Baptist Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
