Arizona State’s football program continued to bolster its roster with the transfer portal, landing a commitment to cornerback Tarik Luckett, who started his college career in Colorado but played last season at Cisco Community College ( Texas).
He will have two more seasons of eligibility left.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder recorded 22 tackles with two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, four breakups and a blocked kick for the Wranglers, who went 4-5 on the season.
Luckett hails from Southern California and played his high school career at Junipero Serra Catholic in Santa Margarita, excelling as a wide receiver. At that time, he was ranked No. 680 overall prospect, No. 89 wide receiver, and No. 77 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
He signed with Colorado in February 2019 and moved there in June.
Luckett started two games for the Buffaloes in 2019 as a true freshman and had eight tackles, two pass breakups and a quarterback rushing to transition to the defensive side of the ball.
He was sidelined by injury in 2020 as well as much of Colorado’s spring training in 2021. He put his name on the transfer portal last May.
The Sun Devils need players in the back of defense as they are graduated from both starting corners Jack Jones and Chase Lucas as well as safeties Evan Fields and DeAndre Pierce.
Luckett will be the ninth addition through the transfer portal.
