Arizona State defensive back Tommi Hill announces he will be traded

Arizona State’s football program has had plenty of high school depth over the past two years, but it’s taking a hit as real-life freshman Tommi Hill announced on social media that he had the intention to transfer.

Hill was a primary substitute this season and spent time on special teams. Along with veteran Sun Devils graduates Chase Lucas, Jack Jones and Timarcus Davis, Hill would likely have been battling for a starting spot in the spring.

The 6-foot, 205-pound player has nine tackles in 11 games.

Hill was one of ASU’s top rookies in 2021, coming to ASU from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, where he excelled on both ends of the ball as a wide receiver and defensive back for a team. who finished second in the 7A state with a 13-2 record.

He was No. 228 overall and No. 11 athlete according to 247Sports, which dubbed him a four-star prospect.

Hill had 29 offers including 10 from SEC schools. In securing the commitment, ASU beat out states like Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Alabama, as well as national powers Oklahoma, Ohio State and the State of Penn. It was also coveted by schools in Florida and Miami State.

His top six schools were ASU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska, and Mississippi State.
