Arizona State Basketball Adds Transfer Portal Brother Combo

Arizona State’s basketball program added a sibling combo with Desmond and Devan Cambridge headed to Tempe through the transfer portal.

Desmond, a transfer from Nevada, still has a year of eligibility left. In 30 games, including 29 starts, he averaged 16.2 points and 5-1 rebounds, earning him third-team All-Mountain West honors for the second time. The 6-foot-4 guard finished 11th in the conference in scoring (15.5 in conference play alone), in the regular season, third in 3 points scored (44) and 3-point field goal percentage (36.4%), and 12th in field-goal percentage (41.9%).

He played in Nevada for two years after spending the first two at Brown.

Devan, a 6-foot-6 guard with two seasons of eligibility remaining, is a transfer from Auburn where he averaged 5.3 points and 3.6 rebounds. He played 33 matches, including 14 of them. He scored in double figures six times with a best of 14 points against Nebraska.

It will be something of a comeback for Devan who averaged 13 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.7 steals in 22 games during the senior season for Phoenix Hillcrest Prep.

ASU graduated two players in forward Kimani Lawrence and guard Marreon Jackson and another starter, 6-foot-9 forward Jalen Graham, decided to enter the transfer portal. Three other players also chose to transfer Justin Rochelin, Will Felton and Demari Williams, but these three players were all redshirts last season.

The big need is now at the post with the departure of Graham and Lawrence and the ignorance of the plans of Marcus Bagley.
