Arizona senator says AG can’t be trusted with shredded ballots

Just when you think the quest to uncover Arizona’s grand election conspiracy couldn’t get any weirder, a weekend dumpster dive reveals a bag of supposedly shredded ballots and a Legislative Leader warns that these ballots will “evaporate” if returned to Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

Senate Majority Whip Sonny Borrelli has repeatedly advised Staci Burk — a Pinal County woman who posted photos of the shredded ballots over the weekend — that she was in danger because she held the ‘domino’ that would overturn the results of the presidential election.

Trust no one, he said, while urging them to give him the ballots.

“It’s the domino. It’s the only domino (that) Arizona knocks down and we expose that corruption and then the other states fall as well,” Borrelli told Burk and another unidentified woman, during a phone call on Sunday.

“It’s so high level, people, they want it gone… They can try to shut you up, you’re a private citizen. They can’t do anything to me. They can bully me all they want, but they know they can’t take me out… (unless they hit me or I kill myself.”

I imagine Brnovich in a ninja costume.

I also imagine Borrelli, R-Lake Havasu City, as a great replacement for the state’s biggest congressman crackpot, Rep. Paul Gosar, should he retire.

But I digress.

County insists ballots are safe

Before we go any further, it should be noted that Maricopa County election officials are adamant that the 2.1 million ballots cast in the November election are safely hidden behind locked doors. and under 24/7 video surveillance.

“I don’t know what was in the yellow bags that showed up in the photos online because I didn’t see the contents of those bags,” Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said in a statement released on Tuesday. “After speaking with the voter registration team, I confirmed that we were destroying a variety of unclassified documents. Additionally, we also destroy the ballots of deceased voters as they could never be tabulated legally. »

Megan Gilbertson, spokeswoman for the Maricopa County Department of Elections, told me that these “deceased voters’ votes” are not ballots cast by deceased persons. These are, she said, early ballots that were returned unopened because the intended recipients had died.

Huge red flag in front

Nobody really knows what Burk and his fellow divers found in that bag because they refused to let anyone see the contents, which is a huge red flag.

It should be noted that Burk, a former chairman of the Gilbert School Board, earlier filed one of eight unsuccessful lawsuits challenging Arizona’s election results.

In her lawsuit, she claimed, among other things, that a box of ballots was flown to Sky Harbor International Airport on a South Korean plane on election night and trucked to the tabulation center. votes from Maricopa County.

It’s not exactly a confidence booster that she’s found the “domino” that will topple the president.

His latest discovery came on Saturday when a right-wing gossip site published his photos taken earlier in the morning, showing an elderly man standing in a dumpster outside the county’s tabulation and election center from Maricopa. Still in the dumpster: a yellow bag of shredded paper.

According to the story, the bag was not brought to the authorities for safekeeping and investigation, but rather to the old man’s kitchen where he, Burk and at least one other person proceeded to piece together what ‘they claim to be shredded ballot papers from the November election, some with the ovals filled in.

After the story came out, investigators from the attorney general’s office showed up at his door to take custody of the shredded documents. A spokesperson for the AG told me that the man had not responded to their repeated attempts to contact him either by phone or in person.

Borrelli: Ballots could ‘evaporate in AG’s hands

Borrelli, in his Sunday phone call to Burk, advised against delivering ballots to the GA office.

“If they grab this stuff from you, this stuff might disappear…” he said. “If you give it to them, it will evaporate.”

Brnovich is the guy who took Sharpie’s stupid conspiracy seriously. It doesn’t seem likely that he, a guy who wants to run for governor in 2022, would hesitate to try to curry favor with his electoral base, most of whom believe the election was stolen.

AG spokesman Ryan Anderson told me the office “has been a leader in protecting the integrity of elections in Arizona.”

“If anyone has evidence of voter or voter fraud, they should provide evidence to our office so investigators can do their job,” he said.

But during their 29-minute phone call — which Burk recorded and later shared with Arizona Mirror’s Jeremy Duda – Borrelli warned her not to trust Brnovich or anyone (other than him). He noted that he had been in contact with Trump attorneys Sidney Powell and Kurt Olson.

Borrelli described Richer, the newly elected county clerk, as a “corrupt coward” and said the Republican-dominated County Supervisory Board belonged in jail for trying to block an upcoming ballot audit by the Senate.

“It’s the corrupt bastards I want to see,” Borrelli said. “I want them in jail. I want them in jail, you have no idea how much.

As for his fellow Republican senators, he says they are all wimps.

“I don’t trust any of these people,” he said. “The reason we are where we are is because I sucked in the Senate and I wasn’t going to let that go. Trust me, there are people who will bend like a chair. garden if I disappear. They would rather that thing die.

He alone, apparently, seeks the path of truth.

“If I got killed, this would all go away…”

“If something crazy happened to me in the Senate, if I got hurt, if I got killed, it would all go away because there’s no one in the Senate pushing,” he told Burk. , urging him to give him the ballots. .

Borrelli did not return my phone call Thursday to discuss this massive cover-up. He told Duda that he may have gone a bit too far, in an effort to gain Burk’s trust because she is paranoid.

When he’s just delusional, wildly.

Unless you really believe that last week the county shredded a bunch of Trump ballots and then dropped them in the dumpster right outside the door for the MAGA team to find.

And that the Republican Attorney General of Arizona is involved in the plot to steal the election from Donald Trump.

And that all five county supervisors, four of whom are Republicans, are involved in the plot to steal the election from Donald Trump.

And that Le Richer, the Republican elections official who just took office in January, is involved in the plot to steal the election from Donald Trump.

And that all Senate Republicans — other than Borrelli, of course — are either implicated in the conspiracy or complicit in some way in covering up the plot to steal the election from Donald Trump.

Even Sen, Kelly Townsend, who introduced a bill to nominate Trump voters. Even Senator Wendy Rogers, a Trump fanatic who pinned a tweet to the top of her Twitter feed that read “I miss President Trump.”

Did I say Borrelli is wildly delusional? Make this dangerously delusional.

Because a shockingly high number of Republicans will absolutely believe they have found the holy grail, the smoking gun…the shredded ballots.

And so the plot, such as it is, thickens.
